This season we will have two separate training classes. The Practical Training class will cover docent responsibilities as well as address new Museum policies. The Understanding the Exhibit class will lend insight into the latest exhibit. The classes are free and open to anyone interested in serving as a volunteer guide at the Museum. All classes are held at the Museum. Contact Aine at 238-0809 or dvc@waterfordmuseum.com to sign up. If you are interested in either of these classes but are unable to attend the dates offered, please contact Aine to make other arrangements.
REQUIRED: Practical Training (choose one) Tuesday, April 17: 9:00-10:30am OR 6:30-8:00pm
Tuesday, May 1: 9:00-10:30am OR 6:30-8:00pm
RECOMMENDED: Understanding the Exhibit Tuesday, May 8: 9:00-10:30am OR 6:30-8:00pm
Volunteer docent shifts are Sunday afternoons from 2-4pm, and occasionally some Saturday shifts (10am-1pm; 1pm-4pm) as well. We are also interested in expanding into weekday shifts on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (10am-2pm). By doing so, Museum staff will be able to focus on research, planning, and implementation of WHMCC’s programs, presentations, and preservation projects with the knowledge that our weekday visitors are in the capable hands of our trained docents.
