From the Director

We kicked off the season with a another successful CanalWays program and the opening of our new Franco-American exhibit. We have received great positive feedback from both programs! As our energies turn toward Heritage Day and research on Waterford’s Irish, I encourage you to take part in the process or join us at one of our events. Heritage Day plans are coming together and promises to be very special as we help christen Ford Hose’s new fire engine, which proudly has “Home of the Button Fire Engine” on its door!
We have a new full time intern on board for the summer, his name is Aaron Robinson. Aaron is in the Public History graduate program at the University at Albany. He will be working with Aine and me on Irish exhibit research and he has already jumped in and helped at CanalWays.
Speaking of CanalWays, you can find CanalWays pictures and much more on our Facebook page, just go to our website and click on the link to Facebook, you do not need to have a Facebook account to see our page.
I encourage you all to take the opportunity to visit the Museum this year and join us for one of our many programs.
Thank you for your support!
Brad

Thank you to the employees of KeyBank of Waterford, who volunteered to do yard work
at the Museum as part of the KeyBank’s “Neighbors Make a Difference Day.”

Attention Waterford’s Irish-Americans

Are you of Irish descent? Has your family been in Waterford for multiple generations or did they immigrate to Waterford? If so, we want to speak with you. Help us write the history of Waterford’s Irish.
The next phase of our immigrant series is underway and we are now researching Waterford’s Irish-American population. We already have a few experts on board to help out, including one in Waterford, Ireland! This promises to be a fun project and we need your help!
If you know someone of Irish-American descent from Waterford who might like to be interviewed please let us know. Call the Museum at 238-0809 or e-mail us at
