Our 2012 Wine and Cheese Tasting

“Recent Archeological Finds in Waterford” by Hartgen Archeological Associates January 8th, 7pm

The Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center is proud to announce the next presentation in our Science and Technology Lecture Series, “Recent Archeological Finds in Waterford” by Hartgen Archeological Associates. Listen in as local archeologist Matthew J. Kirk, from Hartgen Archeological Associates, Inc., discusses recent digs in Waterford prior to the Hudson River dredging project. Hartgen conducted archeological excavations of sites along the water line route in Waterford and Troy, where Native American sites were discovered. Mr. Kirk will discuss these sites and others that illustrate how native peoples occupied present day Waterford at different times in the past. The lecture will focus on the Waterford Water Works site where dramatic changes in the landscape were evidenced over time.

For over 15 years, Mr. Kirk has been active in Northeast archeology. During this time, he has overseen investigation of a wide variety of Native American and historical sites. Mr. Kirk is Board Member of the New York Archaeological Council and a Trustee of the Albany County Historical Association. He has published several peer-reviewed articles on topics related to the archeology of Albany, NY.
